Meet Our Leadership Team

Wamu is made up of incredible team members in both the United States and Uganda.  With a team of over 20, the large majority are local Ugandans.  It is always our goal to provide jobs to Ugandans first, before Westerners, so they can support their families and their community.

I joined Organization because I once was in those kids shoes. If I didn’t get adopted, I don’t think I would have the chance to get an education. So that’s why I am trying to give those amazing kids the same opportunity that I was given. All they need is one person to show them that they care about them.

Abbey Christensen

PARTNER RELATIONS MANAGER

When I was this opportunity came to be part of Wamu, I had little to no experience with working with non-profits, or business or money or anything. But I was definitely am passionate and cared and wanted to make a difference, so I was more than ready to try and commit. I was ready to learn as well as doing my very best to help in changing lives through wamu.

It was not an easy life as a child, given the fact that I could not go to school often, I totally knew a life of not being able to have the necessities of  life, I knew what it meant to have nothing in life. Therefore when the opportunity to serve through wamu youth ministries came to me, it was a miracle. Now, as a Nurse my greatest joy comes when I help in offering health services and it brings me joy to see community people we reach out to living a healthy life.
